Thailand–Cambodia Agree to Full Ceasefire Amid Regional Mediation Efforts

Trump said the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to a complete ceasefire, describing the blast that killed and injured Thai soldiers as accidental, though Thailand’s response was forceful. On December 13, 2025, he posted on social media that discussions with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet were positive and focused on renewed clashes.

He added that both sides accepted a total ceasefire effective Friday evening U.S. time, or early Saturday in Thailand, and would return to a peace framework brokered with his involvement and supported by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Trump noted that both countries are ready to move toward peace and continue trade with the United States.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirmed receiving a call from Trump to discuss the Thai-Cambodian situation and said Malaysia is prepared to help de-escalate tensions, protect civilians, and restore regional stability. As ASEAN chair, Anwar also announced plans to convene a special meeting of foreign ministers to review the situation and support de-escalation efforts.

Embassy-Led Operation Brings Back 269 Indians from Myanmar Scam Networks

Today, India in Thailand (Embassy of India, Bangkok) and India in Thailand (Consulate General of India, Chiangmai), in coordination with various agencies of the Royal Thai Government and the administration of Tak Province of Thailand, facilitated the repatriation of 269 Indian nationals, including 11 women, through Mae Sot, Thailand, by two special flights operated by the Indian Air Force (IAF). These Indian nationals were allegedly involved in scam centers in Myawaddy, Myanmar, and were released after a recent raid on scam compounds in Myanmar.

As part of the Government of India’s sustained efforts to secure the release and repatriation of Indians entrapped in scam centers in Southeast Asia, Indian embassies in Thailand and Myanmar have been working closely with their respective host governments to repatriate them from scam compounds in Myanmar.

Indian nationals are strongly advised to verify the credentials of foreign employers and check the antecedents of recruiting agents and companies before taking up job offers overseas. Further, visa-free entry into Thailand for Indian passport holders is meant for tourism and short business purposes only and should not be misused for taking up employment in Thailand.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now highlights that when asked about a possible Penguins sale to the Hoffman Family of Companies — and concerns over Fenway Sports Group reselling the team for a large profit — Gary Bettman directed all questions back to the organization.

Daily Faceoff shares that construction for the 2026 Olympic arena is running behind schedule, raising fresh doubts about NHL participation.

Sportsnet adds that the Vancouver Canucks have no plans to rebuild, even if Quinn Hughes eventually chooses to team up with his brothers.

Trump Rolls Back Key Farm Import Tariffs Amid Cost-of-Living Pressure

On 15 November 2025, the White House announced that President Donald Trump had signed an executive order removing import tariffs on several agricultural items—including coffee, bananas, beef, coconuts, and mangoes—with the change applied retroactively from midnight on 13 November.

This decision marks a shift from Trump’s earlier position that such tariffs were essential for protecting U.S. jobs and national security.

The reversal also comes amid growing criticism over rising living costs, driven by the administration’s broad tariff policy that increased prices on a wide range of imported goods.

A Slice of Local Life Beyond Pearl Harbor

On weeknights in greater Honolulu, the doors of Aiea Bowl swing open to welcome families eager to unwind. Laughter fills the air as bowling balls glide down the lanes, blending with cheerful chatter and the comforting scent of island comfort food drifting from the Alley Restaurant.

Tables quickly fill with diners savoring local favorites like loco moco—a juicy hamburger patty on rice drenched in gravy—while the dessert counter, famous for its treats, empties fast as the night unfolds.

This lively yet familiar rhythm has defined Aiea Bowl for decades. Hidden from the tourist trail, the retro bowling alley has been a cherished hangout for locals since 1966, surviving renovations and ownership changes without losing its nostalgic charm.

Perched above a modest strip mall in the quiet neighborhood of Aiea, it sits just minutes from one of Hawaii’s most historic landmarks—Pearl Harbor. The site, which draws over 1.5 million visitors each year, stands as a powerful reminder of a moment that reshaped the world.

For travelers visiting Oahu, exploring beyond Pearl Harbor offers a richer experience. Stepping into places like Aiea Bowl reveals the heart of Honolulu’s everyday life—a warm, authentic rhythm far from the bustle of Waikiki.

IMF Chief Praises India’s Economic Momentum, Warns Global Stability Faces Uncertain Tests

IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva hailed India’s expanding role as a global growth driver while noting that worldwide resilience remains untested. Speaking ahead of the IMF–World Bank meetings, she highlighted India’s rapid economic progress as China’s growth slows. Global growth is projected at 3%, supported by strong policy actions and private sector adaptability.

Georgieva cautioned, however, that rising gold demand and persistent trade tensions—especially following U.S. tariff moves—signal potential risks. She emphasized that while the global economy has so far avoided a full-blown trade war, elevated tariffs could still challenge stability. The IMF expects medium-term growth to stay below pre-pandemic levels of 3.7%
