The Health Investment Every Modern Professional Should Make

BANGKOK – In our fast-paced modern lives, it’s easy to put our health last. We often operate on the idea of, “I’ll see a doctor when I feel sick,” but this common mindset is turning out to be a dangerous gamble. With non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like cancer, diabetes, and heart disease on the rise, now causing over 75% of deaths in Thailand annually, it’s clear that a new approach is needed. The wellness world is buzzing about a new essential strategy: ‘Early Detection Saves Lives’.

The Health Investment Every Modern Professional Should Make

Breaking Free from the “Wait and See” Trap

Lieutenant General Tara Poonpracha, M.D., Director and Head of the Medical Team at Lotus Azure Medical Service Saha Clinic, a renowned pathologist, former Director of the Medical Center at Phramongkutklao Hospital, and President of the Royal College of Pathologists of Thailand, sees the devastating impact of our reactive health culture daily. “As a doctor, I’ve witnessed immense loss from chronic diseases that could have been prevented or delayed if caught early,” he explains. He calls the ‘wait until you’re sick’ culture “the most dangerous trap” because it often leads to diagnoses at advanced stages, making treatment more difficult and placing a huge financial burden on families and the country.

This is why the ‘Early Detection Saves Lives’ philosophy is more than just a catchy phrase; it’s a call to action for everyone. Investing in high-quality, proactive health screening is the best investment you can make for your future, a fact supported by the World Health Organization (WHO), which confirms that early detection significantly reduces a disease’s severity and increases survival rates.

Lotus Azure Medical Service Saha Clinic

This proactive stance is also being adopted by leading businesses that understand a core truth of the modern workplace: “the health of employees is the company’s greatest asset”. Annual check-ups are proven to reduce sick leave and boost long-term productivity.

“Proactive care means getting a check-up every year, as many diseases don’t show clear symptoms at first,” says Dr. Tara. “For example, cervical cancer can take 5 to 7 years to show visible symptoms. Early detection also includes essential preventative tools like vaccines for HPV (cervical cancer) and Hepatitis B, which build immunity and reduce the risk of serious illness.”

Your One-Stop Solution for Proactive Health

To meet this growing need, Lotus Azure Clinic was established as a state-of-the-art medical and laboratory center in the heart of Bangkok. This comprehensive one-stop service, set in an 800-square-meter facility, covers everything from lab work and diagnostic imaging (ultrasound and X-ray) to medical consultations.

Lotus Azure is recognized internationally for its commitment to the “AIA – Accuracy, Integrity, Authenticated” principle, ensuring every result is precise and trustworthy. Its world-class standards are backed by top-tier accreditations, including ISO 15189:2022 and approval from the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) for six Middle Eastern nations and the government of Saudi Arabia. This is why the clinic is trusted to screen tens of thousands of skilled Thai workers annually before they travel for overseas jobs.

“Our mission at Lotus Azure is to bring international medical standards to everyone in Thailand,” Dr. Tara concludes. “We want to shift the mindset from ‘reacting’ to illness to ‘proactively’ preventing it. Because good health is the foundation for living and working to your fullest potential.”

Report: Modi Refused Trump’s Calls Amid Tensions

Summary of the Article (FAZ, 26 August 2025)

Modi Reportedly Declines Trump’s Calls, Says FAZ According to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), Donald Trump tried to call Indian PM Narendra Modi four times in recent weeks, but Modi did not respond. Analysts link this to India’s strategy of preserving autonomy while balancing U.S. and China ties, avoiding Trump’s unpredictable, transactional diplomacy. #Modi #Trump #USIndiaRelations #FAZ #Diplomacy #GlobalPolitics #India Source: Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), 26 August 2025

The article reports that former U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly tried to call Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in recent weeks, but Modi has declined to answer.

The piece frames Modi’s refusal as part of a broader diplomatic strategy. It recalls how more than a decade ago, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Modi in Gujarat, strengthening ties. Today, India is wary of repeating mistakes of over-dependence on the U.S., and instead is cultivating closer relations with China, despite past conflicts.

The FAZ notes that India is dissatisfied with U.S. trade policies, particularly tariffs on key exports like clothing, gems, jewelry, and auto parts. Indian exports to the U.S. have fallen sharply, from over 9% of total exports to just 5.5%. Trump’s unpredictability is seen as a risk in India.

The article highlights that Modi’s government prefers to avoid Trump’s “transactional” style, which demands visible concessions. Analysts argue that India seeks to maintain strategic independence, refusing to become merely a U.S. counterweight to China.

The piece also points out Trump’s domestic unpopularity in India. A Pew survey revealed only 24% of Indians expressed confidence in him, compared to much higher numbers for Germany’s Scholz. Delhi is also irritated by Trump’s property empire in India, with expensive apartments viewed as symbols of exploitation.

In conclusion, FAZ portrays Modi’s silence toward Trump as a calculated snub — part of a strategy to safeguard India’s autonomy, manage its delicate ties with both China and the U.S., and avoid being dragged into Trump’s unpredictable global maneuvering.

Thailand and U.S. Congressional Delegation Strengthen Ties, Address Regional Security

Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai welcomed a U.S. congressional delegation at Government House in Bangkok during their visit under the Congressional Study Program on Thailand 2025.

Thailand and U.S. Congressional Delegation Strengthen Ties, Address Regional Security

The delegation included Representatives Beth Van Duyne and Richard McCormick of the Republican Party, along with Representatives Terri Sewell and Suhas Subramanyam of the Democratic Party. Senior Thai officials in attendance were Deputy Defense Minister Gen. Nattaphon Narkphanit, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Russ Jalichandra, National Security Council Secretary-General Chatchai Bangchuad, and Thailand’s Ambassador to the U.S., Suriya Chindawongse.

Talks centered on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional security issues. Mr. Phumtham emphasized Thailand’s commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with the United States, noting opportunities for enhanced collaboration in the digital economy and energy development.

He expressed gratitude for U.S. support in the recent ceasefire declaration between Thailand and Cambodia, reaffirming Thailand’s dedication to resolving border tensions peacefully. Thailand and Cambodia are set to attend the General Border Committee (GBC) meeting on 10 September, with the U.S. expected to continue its role as an observer. The Acting Prime Minister voiced confidence that backing from both the U.S. and ASEAN would help stabilize the situation.

On 26 August, the U.S. delegation will travel to Ubon Ratchathani Province to directly assess the border conflict. Despite the ceasefire, Cambodia has reportedly continued to deploy landmines on Thai territory, injuring Thai soldiers—actions Thailand condemns as violations of its sovereignty, humanitarian law, and the Ottawa Convention.

Additionally, Thailand and the U.S. will participate in the annual Chiefs of Defense Conference from 26–28 August in Hua Hin, jointly organized by the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and the Royal Thai Armed Forces, underscoring the enduring security partnership between the two nations.
